1. Agreement

By installing or using the Skill Installer browser extension, its native helper, or this website, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree with them, do not use the software.

2. What Skill Installer is

Skill Installer is a browser extension that detects Agent Skills published on web pages and installs them into skills directories on your own computer, with an optional native helper that performs the file writes. It is a tool for moving files you have chosen to install. It does not host skills, does not publish them, and is not a marketplace.

3. Your licence to use it

Skill Installer is free of charge, for personal and commercial use alike. There is no account, no subscription and no payment. You may not redistribute modified versions represented as the official extension, remove or obscure its identifying information, or use its name or branding in a way that suggests we produced or endorsed something we did not.

4. Skills are third-party content

This is the most important clause here, so it is worth reading properly.

Skills are written and published by third parties. We do not write them, review them, moderate them, test them or verify their claims. When you install one, you are obtaining software from its author, not from us — the same way that cloning a repository obtains software from whoever wrote it.

• A skill is instructions your AI agent may follow, and may include scripts your agent may execute with your permissions. Treat installing one as you would treat installing any package from an unfamiliar source.
• The security flags shown in the preview are a best-effort aid, not a security guarantee. They highlight patterns worth your attention; they cannot determine intent, and their absence does not mean a skill is safe.
• Each skill is licensed by its own author under its own terms. You are responsible for complying with those terms.
• You are responsible for what you install and for what your agent then does with it, including any consequences for your code, data, systems or accounts.

The preview step exists precisely because this responsibility is yours: it is there so you can make an informed decision before anything is written to disk. Please use it.

5. Your responsibilities

• Use the software lawfully, and in line with the terms of the sites you use it on.
• Keep any GitHub personal access token you supply appropriately scoped, and treat it as the credential it is.
• Approve install directories deliberately. The helper writes where you told it to, and does not second-guess that choice.
• Maintain your own backups. Installing a skill can overwrite an existing skill of the same name when you choose to replace it.

6. No warranty

The software is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or compatible with any particular agent, operating system or browser version, nor that detection will find every skill on a page or that an install will always succeed.

7. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or exemplary damages, or for any loss of data, profits, revenue or goodwill, arising out of or relating to your use of the software — including damages arising from any skill you install through it. Because the software is provided free of charge, our total aggregate liability to you for any claim relating to it is limited to zero.

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties or the limitation of certain liabilities. Where that is the case, the above applies to the fullest extent permitted, and nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited — including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.

8. Trademarks and affiliation

Skill Installer is an independent project. It is not affiliated with, sponsored by, endorsed by, or in any way officially connected to Anthropic, OpenAI, Google, GitHub, Microsoft, Vercel, or any other agent or platform vendor. Product names, logos and trademarks belong to their respective owners and are used here only descriptively, to say which tools the software works with.

9. Changes and availability

We may change, suspend or discontinue any part of the software at any time, including removing features. Skills already installed on your computer are yours and are unaffected by anything we do — they are ordinary files in your own directories. We may also update these terms; the date at the top of this page reflects the current version, and continuing to use the software after a change means you accept it.

10. Ending use

You may stop at any time by uninstalling the extension, and by running the helper’s uninstall script if you installed it. Neither removes the skills you installed; those stay where they are unless you delete them.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Canada, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, and the Canadian courts will have exclusive authority over any dispute arising from them — except where mandatory consumer-protection law in your country of residence gives you the right to bring proceedings locally.
